About thirty million Americans who smoke say they want to quit, but lack the motivation. Smoking: 201 Reasons to Quit provides that motivation by focusing on why you should not smoke, rather than how to quit. The book contains a complete in-depth explanation of the dangers and disadvantages of smoking. The book describes more than one hundred ways that tobacco harms smokers' health, often leading to prolonged disability and early death. A medical advisory panel of prominent physicians has reviewed these sections about tobacco-related illnesses. The book includes discussions of problems caused by nicotine addiction, the best methods of quitting tobacco, the health hazards of secondhand smoke to others, and the ways that smoking increases the dangers of injury and death. Jack Klugman, star of stage and screen and an anti-smoking activist who fortunately survived the cancer caused by his smoking, wrote the book's foreword.

Review:
Smoking: 201 Reasons to Quit is a life-saving book that everyone should read.
The new book, Smoking: 201 Reasons to Quit, by Muriel Crawford is a one-of-a-kind book that every smoker, physician, family, school, and hospital should have in their collection. Well researched, and well written, the book will open your eyes to the truth about smoking in 201 very precise, very accurate statements.
Simple and to the point, Ms. Crawford delivers a powerful punch to the idea that one-half of all American smokers who have been addicted to nicotine were successful in quitting. Smoking is deadly, and not only hurts the smoker but everyone around them. She talks about topics such as disability, early death, cancer, lung disease, nerve disease, wounds and surgery, sleeping problems, reproduction, pollution, exercise, addiction, secondhand smoke, your smile, relationships with others, and much, much more.
Did you know that “Exposure to secondhand smoke is a significant risk factor for a stroke?” Or that “If you smoke you are more likely to get heartburn?” What about, “Smoking increases your risk of back pain or sciatica.” Did you know that “If you smoke, you are about twice as likely as a nonsmoker to be injured at work?” These are not just statements from the author, they are backed up by research, statistics, and medical information.
This powerfully honest, yet brutal look at smoking is a wake-up call that our society needs as a whole. Ms. Crawford has done a wonderful job at not only delivering the information, but compiling the information in a way that is easy to understand and easy to follow. This is a great book for an important topic.
