The story begins with a medical procedure going slightly awry when a researcher inadvertently uses a petri dish contaminated by the DNA of an escaped research 'smart mouse' for the in vitro fertilization of his fiancée. The result is the birth of a very unusual daughter who grows up to be nicknamed 'Meanie Mouse.' by those closest to her. Her strange animalistic tendencies turn her into a brilliant justice-for-all superhero with interesting quirks. As she strives to create a better world, she helps those she finds in need and vows to protect the underdog.
The setting is Orlando, Florida, a city rooted in family entertainment, fun, magic, imagination, and thrills. However, beneath the surface of the whimsy buzzes an entirely different community. In this diverse culture, murder and mayhem collide with the forces of justice and civilization. The location fuels our heroine's penchant for righting wrongs and sniffing out justice. The death of a young Russian woman occurs at the health care center, starting a string of mysterious occurrences. Melanie AKA 'Meanie' leaves no stone unturned as she finds herself peering into the lives of the Orlando Operators, the professional football team. With her keen intellect and almost magical powers, she begins to piece the puzzle together. She tirelessly pursues every angle until the clues point her to the surprising killer.
